It’s no secret that Freedom Shores Resort and Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill are continuously evolving and changing. The latest and most exciting step of this evolution process has been the creation of “The Village”, an outdoor dining and entertainment area designed to compliment and expand the existing bar and restaurant. With a purpose built bar, a smokehouse and undercover seating area The Village has doubled the seating capacity of the overall venue and, expanded the food offering to now include an American smokehouse style menu which has been carefully crafted by our Head Chef Zibby Deca.
That Smokin’ Joint is home to our offset smoker “Happy Grillmore” a converted 1,800 litre gas tank that smokes meat using native Australian woodchips which sits adjacent to The Nakamal, our polynesian style hut overlooking the crystal clear waters of Pioneer Bay and the Coral Sea. Tieing the whole area in is the Moon Bar, an outdoor bar that juts out over our lake, home to the resident barramundi. Further emphasising our island feel on the mainland vibe it is perfect for those who are wanting enhance their relaxed Northerlies experience and enjoy a drink with a water view from both sides.
The official opening on Friday May 31st sees the penultimate event of the opening weekend with a 3 course dinner and meet the winemaker event with live music featuring Nicky Bomba and brother Michael Caruana, Funk Master Aaron Saxon and Airlie Locals MT Rated. Saturday June 1st welcomes Bustamento and their support acts for the Northerlies Beach Party featuring Nicky and his band of incredibly talented musical cohorts.
