Pioneer Bay Homestead
Freedom Shores’ Homestead is a holiday home of laid-back luxury in the heart of the Whitsundays. Our newly renovated lawns provide the perfect beachfront wedding venue and the homestead itself features three breezy bedrooms all with king beds and their own ensuite bathrooms. Slide into island time with private waterfront access or walk 1-minute across the lawn to Northerlies – Airlie’s favourite beach bar. Enjoy incredible ocean views from the wrap-around balcony & private lawn, then head inside to find a fully equipped kitchen. Guests also have full access to the resort pool.
Waterfront Weddings
The Homestead offers a unique setting for absolute beachfront weddings. Step off the wooden deck onto an elevated lawn with breathtaking views of the ocean. This versatile space serves as both a picturesque ceremony site and an intimate reception area, allowing couples to seamlessly transition from vows to celebration in one stunning location. Enjoy private access to the shoreline below for memorable photo backdrops. Couples can also mix their wedding locations with a ceremony at the Homestead and reception at our private Beach Shack. Honeymoon Paradise
After the all the wedding fun, settle into the Homestead for the ultimate beachfront honeymoon. Start your mornings by cooking breakfast together in your fully-equipped kitchen, taking in the stunning ocean views, then head out to the Whitsunday Islands on one of the many incredible day tours. Spend your afternoons on the deck, with a drink in hand & order room service from Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill to round out the night. Perfection.

Where is Pioneer Homestead?
Pioneer Homestead is located just a 5-minute walk from Freedom Shores Resort, Whitsundays. We are located just a 15-minute drive from Airlie Beach. Guests also have access to Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill, which is a 1-minute walk from the homestead.

Is there a minimum length of stay?
The Homestead has a 2-night min stay in off-peak seasons and a 3-night min stay during peak seasons.
How close is Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill?
Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill is just a 1-minute walk from the homestead. Enjoy an afternoon of cocktails on the beach or dinner on the brasserie deck. You can also order take away room service to the house by calling (07) 4804 5511 (dial 1). Check out the Northerlies website to see what’s on.
Can I swim at the beach?
We don’t recommend swimming at the on-site beach. The tides are very unpredictable, it’s quite rocky & the Whitsundays is home to seasonal stingers. However, you do have full access to the resort’s heated pool, just a 5-minute walk from the Homestead.
How is breakfast served?
Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast served in the resort reception daily. Ask our team about the option to add on a breakfast hamper to be placed in the Homestead fridge before arrival, for an additional charge.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as we love our doggos, unfortunately we are located on a wildlife reserve, so pets are not allowed on the grounds.
